What Is Art Therapy?
Art therapy is a combination of art making and talk therapy, where you can explore personal experiences, themes and challenges through creative expression. Art therapy acts as a tool to navigate things that may be hard to express with words. You do not need to be an artist or art maker to participate in art therapy!
Who is A?
A Beaumont (they/them) is a white settler, queer, trans, disabled, neurodivergent and fat artist, community organizer and Art Therapy Intern (DTATI Candidate). A is passionate about accessibility, community care, mutual aid and resistance. They work from a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive and disability justice framework and have 11 months of experience supporting clients with anxiety, depression, grief, life and identity changes, climate anxiety and coping with complex trauma.
