Why Art Therapy
Art therapy is a combination of art making and talk therapy, where you can explore personal experiences, themes and challenges through creative expression. Art therapy acts as a tool to navigate things that may be hard to express with words. You do not need to be an artist or art maker to participate in art therapy!
Who is A?
A Beaumont (they/them) is a white settler, queer, trans, disabled, neurodivergent and fat artist, community organizer and Art Therapy Intern (DTATI Candidate). A is passionate about accessibility, community care, mutual aid and resistance. They work from a trauma-informed and disability justice framework with a focus on personal and collective joy, resistance and healing. With over 8 years of experience in art and organizing spaces, they are so excited to continue working with Open Your Art!
Policies:
Community safety: We ask that participants wear N95 masks and they are provided. A room sized HEPA filter and a travel HEPA filter will be in use during all sessions. If you are experiencing any illness symptoms (cough, sore throat, runny nose etc.) please do not attend.
Cancellation: If you're unable to attend the session, please let us know via email at least one hour beforehand if possible.
Artwork: The artwork you create in the program belongs to you. You may choose to store it at the studio during the program. If you store it at the studio and you discontinue the group at any time or the group finishes, you have two weeks to collect your artwork before it is disposed of.
If you're interested in joining this group please reach out to openyourart.therapy@gmail.com, or register here (link).
